I know you guys are scalding the organisers in this part of the thread but i just thought id add that.
Expensive way to "be the best" when tomorrow someone beats your time by 1 tenth of a second then you are history and they are the best for free

You pay to be an entrant, to entertain the public, who pay to get in and you may win a voucher or more likely thousands of pounds worth of fooked car.......now lets think ..... who is the overall winner here ...Hmmmmmm
Pisses me off that I never thought of it.

Don't competitors in all kinds of motorsport have to pay an entry fee usually though?

Is it because people see this event as a show rather than a competition?

At the Santapod RWYB days for example you pay to run the strip, people pay to watch you and there's no prizes at all.
Most drift events are the same with similarly rubbish prizes.

Usually, if you pay an entry fee it's because there's substantial prize money for the winners, think of horse racing, golf etc etc. Motorsport events are usually the same, with money, parts, oil etc for the winners.

Certainly in any other field the rewards would normally outweigh the investment , not in this case it seems

There are prizes for the fastest (non-pro) vehicle in it's class for RWYB at Santa Pod when they take place on the same day as a National Event such as Japshow. Admittedly though, these are also on the small side and you'll not get a sniff unless your packing some serious oomph.

    Too right mate.

I suppose £50 vouchers could buy enough engine oil for the rebuild.
