Was reading a thread on the other forum, and just wondered what people's opinions were on the idea of getting a Skyline converted to run on LPG?

What is the point I think. Enjoy the hydrocarbons while we have them, plenty of time for alternative fuels when the real stuff has gone.

I think he's more concerned about conserving his wages than conserving the planet, so irrespective of the green issue - I think it's a good idea if it's your daily drive.
Sadly you can no longer get government grants to do it, but there are Skylines out there that have been converted. There is one for sale on the other side in fact.

"Bit of both really....."
Couldn't give a stuff about emissions. Like Dewie correctly surmised, I was thinking about it from a financial point of view.
As long as there aren't any issues with regards it doing damage to the engine, then I think it makes a lot of sense.

LOL - You post-editing cockbag.
LPG has a higher octane rating too - which is a good thing, innit?
Discuss.

Octane aint everything... it is also down to how quickly it burns with LPG being slower than petrol.
Methanol, I believe, is much faster.

My apologies, I thought this was a green thread and that made me go out and strip mine a small forest this afternoon in rural Kent. I will begin tree planting tomorrow.Originally Posted by Yokozuna

If I had it done, I'd make sure I burnt lots of plastic or something to make up for the lower emissions...
I guess the real thing to think about is...
its hard enough to find a bloody Shell station sometimes.... LPG?!

The Shell station on my way to work has it, so that wouldn't be a problem. Can't the car run off normal petrol instead if you can't fill up with LPG?
Or would this be bad for the car, switching between the two?
