just one thing andy - cp don't list a neo piston, was it a special order?

sorry! - that is why i was asking because a neo head has smaller combustion chambers so if you don't use neo pistons your compression will be too high - better to check! You have me a bit worried now
I have just read on an Aus forum that it is possible to use these pistons within a neo block, providing I fit a 3mm head gasket which will compensate for the higher compression. Its too late now anyway as I have bought them and if I have to I can always re sell them here in the UK.
thats what i did bought a set of pistons from a guy on here then found out they were wrong, re sold them in Australia and bought the right ones from the states - nightmare!
p.s. wasn't trying to cause you problems, but its better to find these things out before rather than afterwards
no! sorry if i wasn't clear - mines just an rb25det(r33) i used rb26 crank rods and pistons - but in my research i learn't about 25 neo pistons and head differences
as i said i'm sure you need 'neo' pistons but i'm sure others could confirm for sure!
well i have a parcel to collect monday too.lol. not sure what it is yet though..

With Power Comes Responsibility
Well the pistons have arrived and on first glances they appear to be standard forged RB25DET ones, there are no valve pockets which are needed for the valve clearance. I have been doing a great deal of reading up though and there does appear to be hope with this set and the NEO block, I am in talks with Thor motorsports and an engineering company, we are looking at compression ratios and the possibility of machining the pistons to include pockets and also a oversized head gasket.
There is even a guy in Aus who is running these pistons with some modifications and 2 1.5mm head gaskets. So there is still a chance. Here are some pics though

IMO you need to use neo pistons to save complications - but i'm sure a company like Thor know more than i do, it would just be a shame to go through all that work for a 'not sure' outcome
2 head gaskets sounds like trouble to me, plus 2 good gaskets would be well on the way to the price of a set of pistons i would of thought
