    Check engine light !!!

Came on today for the first time, only for a few seconds then went off , 10 sec,s later back on for a few seconds, then stayed off for the remainder of my journy home (20 mins).

Running a power fc , checked what settings i understood, which is not many and looked for any loose wire,s under bonnet ,checked oil and water but will keep on looking around tomorrow, is there something im missing here that may cause the light to come on itermitintley.

I think the Power FC put the Check engine light on with very height DET but i could be wrong.

On the commander what are you watching??

When i had the GTT with the PFC i was watching DET and injector %

You don't really need to be watching so many parameters providing it has been mapped correctly. Though I would say the ability to monitor so much does come in handy whilst trying to fault find.

Knock and water temp was all I had up.

Ok , so after a bit of very carefull scroling through the pfc settings , i now monitor just knock and eng timing , went for a short drive with no prob,s , taking very steady of course but will have to wait and see if it does it again.

Car was mapped by abbey so i have a lot of confindence in the mapp.
Will keep you updated thanks for all the advice and input

it does, what it can't do is retard ignition when it detects it

speaking of monitoring knock with the power fc , what is a high number & can a bad batch of fuel cause this . Reason for asking is i used a local BP & put super in bout £30 , took for a steady drive & when got home reached a knock of 66 , , the few weekends did a similar thing but used the other BP in town & reached a knock of 20 , with a bit more of a spirited drive , also would a cold night affect it or is it just more down to possible fuelling problems

Some tuners use a figure of 60 as the upper limit of a safe knock level and some have a boundry of 30 for a bit more safety.

May have been a slightly poor batch of fuel. As for a cold night, in theory yes as the air would be denser which could push things such as the AFM (If stock) through their limit.

I've heard of lots of problems with aftermarket ECU's hearing 'other' sounds that get registered as knock, so often things aren't as bad as suggested.

Problem is that you won't know
