I use Avast on my Vista box and Sophos on the XP machines, I use a hardware firewall via my router to stop anything nasty getting in or out.
Heres a tip, if you use a 64 bit operating system, instead of the normal 32bit, about 99% of virus that you can get cannot do anything, due to the the way a 64bit OS runs,
The only problem is that bugger all else works on Windows 64 either!!

"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.
