yabba why not see if someone in your area has a car with one fitted and see if you can take it for a drive i'm running one and it feels nice the only known problem is the lack of retard when it detects knock

The downside to having an Fcon is that only HKS Powerwriters have the software to map them. As far as I know only 3 people are HKS Powerwriters,
Abbey Motorsport, GtArt and TDI (Torque Developments).
Only buy an Fcon V pro as these are the only ones that can be properly mapped and buy only a version 3.1 or 3.2. Don't bother with the version 3.0 as its got slower software (takes a lot longer to map....dyno time is expensive!!).

many thanks for the replies, ivor not keen on the idea of no retard with knock, good point floyd and id love to go to abbey but its just too far, spearmint looked at the link ones, the 1k one is too dear, the more basic one i could afford (think it was about £600 ) but i cant find anyone who knows about them.
