Thumbs up How To.. Remove R33 Rear Light Clusters.

Seeing as i did this the other day and i had the camera handy i thought i would do a little write up

Removal of R33 rear light clusters

Tools needed

Small Phillips (pozzy) head screw driver
10mm Socket or Spanner
Heat gun or hairdryer

Step 1

Unscrew and remove the 2 plastic screw clips holding boot slam panel (circled below)
then gently unclip and lift off slam panel

Step 2

Unscrew and remove the 5 plastic screw clips holding the rear boot lining (circled in yellow) undo the 2 twist clips on the passenger side (circled in WHITE). Gently push away from the rear of the car and lift out.

Step 3

Remove the rear 'SKYLINE' facia plate by removing the 4 x 10mm nuts holding in place (circled below) and gently pull off of car, this can be a bit tricky as there is a plastic clip in the middle that will need an edge pushed in with a screw driver while pulling, the bottom of the clip might need the same once top is free.

Step 4

Choose a light and upon looking at it from inside the boot you will see 5 X 10mm nuts (top one has a metal plate under it) holding it in place (circled below) remove these nuts and pull off the plastic clips holding the wires on them. Next gently unclip the electrical connector.

Step 5

Get a heatgun or hairdryer and from the indside heat up around the edge of the metal around the light, this is to heat the mastic that has sealed the light in place. As you heat, gently push the corner nearest to the middle until it moves out slightly, then move to the opposite corner. Once both corners are free the mastic should be heated up enough to carefully pull the light cluster out (BE VERY CAREFULL AS THE EXTERIOR PLASTIC LIGHT SURROUND CAN BRAKE EASILY). Once removed repeat for the other side. (should look like this once one is out)

Step 6

Remove the painted plastic surround by unscrewing 6 pozzy screw holding it in place on the back of the cluster (circled below), repreat for other light.

Go back through the steps to replace the lights BUT.... I would advise replacing the mastic to seal the lights. This can be bought from Nissan or most car accessory shops.

Hope this helps out anyone doing an LED conversion.

Heres what it should look like after

Steve

Unfortunatly these lights were a one off. The chap that made them did a few sets on GTROC a while ago. I had to beg and pleed with him to make me a set. 'His words were this is THE LAST set'. Sorry buddy.
