At last, my dyno sheet.

I finally got all the cash together and had my turbo etc etc upgraded from standard. So I spent 22 hours travelling to and from SP Autos so Andy could get to work, a total of 12 hours on the train and 10 hours driving !! - but the drive back with the new turbo was fun.

I decided to go for the big HKS GT3037 Pro S turbo because i am planning some more mods this winter and i wanted to be prepared.

I am very pleased with how the car drives, its FAST and sounds awesome, the turbo sounds fantastic !!

Andy W worked very hard over the weekend to finish the job, in fact he worked ALL night on Sunday, he finished at 6.30am and drove the car to Abbey for 8am - massive thanks to him for that, the turbo never arrived until saturday whilst Andy was on a day off, so he worked all night to finish it...

Here's the engine spec at present :

Standard headgasket and internals.

HKS GT3037 Pro S turbo
HKS turbo elbow
Japspeed downpipe
HKS Hi power cat back exhaust
De-cat
Splitfires
Heat range 8 plugs
Deutschwerks 740cc injectors
Apexi Air Intake
z32 AFM
FMIC
Apexi Power FC
Apexi AVCR
Adjustable FPR
Walbro 255l/hr fuel pump

( i think thats it )

Excedy heavy duty RB26 clutch

I don't know a lot about Dyno graphs, but you can see the turbo is giving power all the way up to the rev range, Andy W reckons this turbo has another 100hp to give, but thats for when i go for the next round of upgrades this winter.

The power so far is :

372.8hp @ 1bar at the HUBS

The torque is :

333.9ft/lbs at the HUBS

It was mapped on 97 RON fuel so that i don't need to search out Shell stations all the time, and mapped to 1 bar, the boost will be increased once the next upgrades are done.

Needless to say i'm very pleased, the car has been transformed, this turbo has a bit of lag but MY GOD once it comes in at about 3500rpm then all hell breaks loose, so it can be driven quite sensibly and a good fuel consumption below 3500rpm then put your foot down and it comes alive.

The 7 months of not going out with my mates each week, not buying myself any new clothes and taking sandwiches to work instead of eating in the canteen has all paid off, lets hope the weather is better this year so i can actually drive it.

cheers

Andy.

Good result Andy. I have to say that the hp plot looks a lot more linear than I expected.

Yep, he's a top bloke, he sorted out a few minor problems too, which i didn't even know existed until he pointed them out, it was my issue with the late arrival of the turbo, but he still worked hard to get it done, i wonder how many other garages would have gone to such trouble ?

cheers

andy.

Fantastic figures for 97 octane , torque looks a bit wobbly , dunno what thats about.

You can see the difference between that turbo and the stock one as it just keeps making more and more power, wheras the stock one runs out of puff , as Andy said its got more to give

but its the green numbers you need to look at not the yellow ones .

The yellow ones are what the dyno actually read , the green figure is corrected for the temperature, on a cold day an engine will make more power so the yellow figure will be higher than the green and on a hot day its the other way around , its a way to stabilise results throughout the year

On a GTS-t the torque curve can take a bit of flat spot because of the variable inlet cam timing.

the power actually was as high as 390hp @ the hubs at 1bar, but Abbey pegged it back because they said it was a little unstable, getting a bit of DET, so for safety the pegged it back a bit.

So the boost will be raised with a thicker headgasket and cams fitted next, will get this done in a few months.

but even so, i'm a happy bunny.....

Excellent figures there, nice to finally see what a proper tuner can get out of that turbo.

Andy.
I just mean that it looks like the power builds fairly progressively, rather than a huge hit way up the rev range.

The big hit can be great fun (as both I and PK GTR know ), but something progressive sometimes makes for the better drive.

i'm glad you feel the figures are good, to be honest they weren't my main aim - i just wanted to be planted in my seat when i put my foot down, i know it sounds daft but i wanted more power to make my smile bigger and it has done that 110%. So the power i have now certainly has done that.

I'm not likely to go chasing after cars to race, all i know it feels fantastic - completely transformed - would the extra 20hp Abbey 1st had out of it really make that much difference, well enough difference to risk problems ?

My missus nearly soiled herself yesterday when i took her out for a blast, so that will keep her out of the passenger seat for a while....

I will take this opportunity to thank everyone who gave me advice and help during the long process of choosing the parts i needed, from the FPR right through to the turbo itself, without the help i would have screwed things up.

Andy W is the man, i must have sent him 500 pm's over the months requesting advice, changing plans, asking stupid questions and he never once got mad (well not to my face anyway ), and he never stopped til he got the job done...

THANKS...
