sorry - the fronts are grooved and DIMPLED not drilled.

the rears will be grooved and DIMPLED.

the discs were just put on in this pic hence the brake pads not bedded in yet ( and yes i know they are the wrong way round, they have since been swapped round ).

cheers

andy.

Well this opens up another myth. as for your discs being the wrong way round , What is right and what is wrong ? When i got my 3g discs , in the literature it said they can be fitted either way , but if you use the brakes for aggressive braking and spirited driving i.e trackdays , they suggested that the slots have the leading edge to the outside .

So lets discuss this as well

You can put brakes on the wrong way round......remember children, the shiney side faces out

Hang on, the inside can be shiney too!

R33 GTR with Brembos
Master Cylinder diam (mm) - 26.9 568.32mm^2
Front Caliper Piston(diam x qty) - (44+3Cool×2 ... leading pistons smaller then trailing 5309.29mm^2

Rear Rotors (diam x thk) - 300×22
total 7822.56 brake to master ratio 13.76

Total area isn't much more for the GTR, and thats with the standard discs for the GTST
right i'm interested to see what the numbers would be using the 345mm front discs and using the bigger surface area pads that DB-power supply, this would probably give greater stopping power than the std GTR Brembo set up.

Ask yourself this, just exactly how hard are you going to be on the brakes?

Your Michael Schumacher, 50 laps of a track, you need REALLY good brakes - the normal bloke probably needs brakes good enough for 10 or so laps of hard braking, so IMHO the setup I have is more than good enough - tried and tested with 100% success.

I've heared about people that have changed the complete brake system and bleed the brakes ALL ON THEIR OWN!

Bet the first time they hit the brakes was fun......

We need to write to Mythbusters to sort this out once and for all.....

Now if the Brembo calipers looked as sexy as the D2 or K-Sport calipers then i'd have them regardless whether they were loads better or not purely because asthetically they float my boat.

but seeing as they look pretty much the same as the standard calipers and they don't seem (at this point in the discussion anyway) to be hugely superior to the std GTS-T calipers i can't see a good reason to get them.

The weight of the car and the power, the track your driving on, the way you brake and lots of other factors need consideration of course.

NOTE : i am of course not making any conclusions just yet.

thats a good point, i'm going to take off my wheels again tomorrow and check to see if the discs have a L & R stamped on them, then i'll know.

if they are not stamped then i'll get on to Dan at DB power to see what he says (thats where i got the discs from).

No doubt a Brembo brake upgrade (discs and calipers from a GTR) onto a GTS-T would give increased stopping power because of the bigger discs etc and the fact that the GTS-T is lighter (in standard form), but in my case it doesn't seem to be a benefit.

I may aswell put another £400 and get the K-Sport 356mm front 8 pot brake kit, this comes with pads so that'll save me the £100 i need to spend to upgrade my current pads, i could sell my current calipers and discs for £200, so it would only really cost me £100 extra to buy the K sport kit over the Brembo 2nd hand upgrade.

now there's a thought....
