Going to Brembos is a good upgrade for a GTST As the disks are bigger and so are the pads but it is expencive upgrade for what you get. A big disk kit gives similer proformance at a lower price but dose not have the disigner label in the caliper.( my other cars a Skoda so what do i care about labels) But if you are going for big power from your car a big disk upgrade will become inadiquet so Endless, K sport, D2, AP racing etc etc are the way to go Andy thay do look nice but thay are out of my price range at the moment witch is the other limitting factor for most of us. Its good that we are discussing this I now iam from the old school of tuning or i have just smashed to mainy MK2 Escorts in my time ![]() but i aways work on upgrading the breaks and suspension first as i think its more importanrt to go around a corner and be able to stop than having the highest bhp figer but an undrivable car

| this is true, i had a 300zx with over 400hp and it had standard brakes, and MY GOD the brakes were terrible, they are rubbish on 300zx's anyway but with all that extra power it was scary.... ![]() I don't think its emphasised enough to upgrade your brakes when you go for extra power, its a small cost considering the amount of cash spent on the upgrades done on some of our engines. eg, i've spent in excess of £4k getting my engine to its current state (over 400hp) and the total i've spent on my brakes so far is £340, not a lot really is it - not even 10% of the cost of the work on the engine. So its really about time i changed that ratio, there's going to be another £2.5k spent on the engine this winter making around £6.5k spent, so if i spent £1k on brakes that brings the ratio up to over 15% - maybe thats a bit closer to the mark ?? i want the car to go fast, stop faster and look nice too (cause i'm a poser !! ). So all you guys with a set of brembo's for sale BEWARE we want value for money now, i'm not going to splash out that amount of cash for the Brembo name when it seems i don't need to with my current set up (sorry Chipper.. ![]() andy. |

Having something suitable and fit for purpose should be the aim and what is fit for the purpose depends on how the car is used you can over brake a car and upset the balance or have a set of brakes that work poorly on the road but are great on the track when pushed hard In the 2 years i've had my Brembos on i have never had a moment , even during fast road use, but in that time i havent tracked the car (the brembos were fitted immediatly after the first trackday i did), i have been nothing but impressed with them and the others parts i've added to the braking system and whilst i know there are better brakes available to buy there is little point for me as 99.9% of the time i use my Skyline I doubt i would see any difference in performance between the brakes i have now and any expensive aftermarket set that can be fitted. I am sure i would see a difference on track of course as the standard brakes i had with red stuff pads were fine on the road but over heated quickly on the track. If it wasnt for the DBB kits Brembos would still offer excellent value for money as an upgrade for 32 and 33 GTST owners but currently i think the bigger discs that Dan does will give at least comparible if not slightly better performance for less money Its certainly not the time to write off the Brembo set up yet and plumb for something more expensive especially if they are going to be fitted to cars that are never going to see a trackday anyhow otherwise its just expensive bling (not that there is anything wrong with that )

I, as i said, am a bit of a poser and personally i would go for the K-sports for a bit of bling, BUT if i were just going to uprate the standard GTS-T brakes for extra braking power then i would not now go for Brembo's, i'd go for my current set up (Dan's discs, etc ). not everyone can justify spending a grand on brakes, but for £300 you can get some nice big discs, you have to buy pads too but you'd have to buy them if you got the brembo's anyway. cheers Andy.

| Cheers Squeak Well here are pics of the DB power 345mm brake kit, this kit comes with two discs, pads and brackets to relocate the brake caliper as well as the required bolts and washers . Pretty easy to fit and comes with decent instructions although i would suggest changing the brake lines at the same time as the stock ones are on the limit of their travel, as with many upgrades you also need to bend or remove the backplate. Check for clearance with your wheels before you buy them though as i can see many people having trouble getting the wheels over these bad boys ......we did !!
