| We know one of the young people killed as they were from our village. The lorry driver was arrested, but I didn't know he was treated in such a 'heavy handed' way. He was later released & went to hospital. His son turned up at the crash scene a few hours after the incident to retrieve his fathers mobile phone. I thought this a little odd at the time but put it down to the fact that he was probably in so much shock at the time that he left it behind. It would appear he didn't have a chance to pick it up at the time as he was busy being cuffed & bundled off into the back of a police car. I read a report in the press the other week that suggested that this government were finally starting to realise that the criminal justice system in this country might just be biased in the wrong direction. We can only hope! |
