Check the condition of the pads first before you go splashing out. As for the noise, a little copper grease on the back of the pad can help as can filing a little bit of the edge of the pad all the way round so that instead of a 90' edge it is 45'.

As for lowering, cheapest option would be a set of lowering springs. Roadrunner or Altorque who are traders on here would be your best bet.

dude why are you SHOUTING!!!!!!!!!

yep i concur, go to halfords get some copper grease, that'll stop it, the squealing noise comes from the pads vibrating very fast, the grease will stop that.

If you buy red stuff pads they come with anti-squeel plastic shims.

Had this problem for years. Truly ear splitting, lol. Copper greasing & chamfering helps, new pads and discs don't. Getting replacement brake kit shims from Middlehurst made the most difference. I've learned to live with it.

Are they DS2500's?

I had these on mine and no matter what I did I couldn't stop the squeal. I got used to it in the end.

after checking you still have material left on the pads, warm up the brakes and try some heavy stops from around 60mph down to about 20mph (check the mirrors first )

Brakes can squeal even on brand new cars. It was fine untill they took the asbestos out of the friction material

Fords answer at one point was to brake harder and break the glaze on the pads that builds up frm light braking.

So do as Andy said

At the moment I have gone back to factory standard pads & discs from Middlehurst, in the hope this might sort the problem....lol. Not a huge diff in the feel & they squeal a bit less often.

I definately don't recommend hard braking to deglaze on standard discs - they can't take the heat. Better off manually tweaking up the pads & re-greasing now & then.

aaarrgghh.

I replaced front brake pads recently. Squealed..took off made sure everything clean put copper grease on backs...still squealed. told that because the discs were worn might be an idea to make a chamfer at the top of the pad because there may be a small ridge on disc, did it...squealed worse! Frightened small children when driving through High street.
Bought two new discs, fitted....silence. Might not work for some but it did for me

My standard (worn) discs and pads squealed like pigs. I fitted new EBC slotted discs on the front and yellow stuff pads all round and once bedded in properly havn't squeaked at all in 3-4 months.
