    Nurburg Ring is Dangerous.. Pics

    Hi All,

I would just like to point out that the Nurburg Ring is Dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly. TrackDay Addict and I were on track coming round a bend and came across this on the track. Of course we and others stopped. 3 guys were still trapped inside the car. The doors were crushed closed, so the passengers had to come out through the windows.

Once thing to note, all the debries you see apart from car bits, is actually their overnight clothes, toilettries etc. you should NEVER have items in the boot or cabin when on a track day as they fly out into and around the cabin.

All 3 passengers were in shock, put on a drip, and stretchered away. I'm not too sure how this crashed happened, but it does prove motorsport is dangerous. I couldn't go out on the track for a couple of hours after seeing this. I was holding the drip for one of the guys, who was patched up by the paramedics...

Thanks for posting that up Moff.

I know that some people frown upon posting up car crash pictures, but with the amount of s**t posted up in various places about the ring recently this reinforces the fact that it is a dangerous place & people do get killed regularly.
I hope all involved were ok.
It's also great to see that the people on your trip that had little or no experience of the Ring got some instruction before going out
I was talking to Lisa a while back & if you had been running 2 trips again this year I would have gone on the later one. It just gives me more time to save up.

Its also worth noting that even in a car like the skyline with a sealed boot you should not keep anything in it, as objects can move around while driving. It doesnt take much of a weight shift to kick out the back end of a car when driving hard.

Worth keeping rear seat belts fastened too, all the time - will help keep things in place for impacts / harsh braking.

It was like a scene from Casualty
Must have happened literally seconds before we got there & jesus when we pulled up i honestly thought the rear passenger was dead - head hanging out of the window & not moving
Driver was in a bad state & blood everywhere.

All young lads bless them 18 - early 20's but they survived which is the main thing to live another day. Being honest i was a lunatic in a car at that age so know exactly how they must have felt.

Moral of the story wear a sodding helmet (none of them did) & clear the car out, no joke there was stuff spread over 200 yards from tool kits to spare parts to clothes to wash bags etc etc etc. The driver & passengers had huge cuts to the back of their heads from the stuff thrown around inside.

Well done to Honda for building a pretty tough little car also, they lost it on a very high speed section & must have hit the barrier looking at the marks at around 70 mph + & then rolled over at least twice.

Christ, is that what it is? I honestly couldn't make out what car it was until you posted that
I used to be someone around here!
Now I'm quite happy being no-one somewhere else.

    Normal services will resume....eventually.

Yes well done for stopping , but surely you wouldn`t go out on any track without a helmet, this surprises me that the Ring allows you the choice.:eusa_naughty:

I know but it is classed as a public road
Just sitting at the start line barriers on sunday really shocked me at the sheer variety of stuff that goes on track

4 people carriers with children in the back followed by A4 diesel with work shirts for monday nicely pressed hanging in the rear window (i kid you not) followed by 911 GT3 RS & ferrari etc etc - bonkers

But by being a public road the young driver that was involved in this could face charges of dangerous driving if the police thought they had a case not to mention the huge bill waiting for him (or his parents) when he recuperates

99 times out of 100 - Driver Error.

Not necessarily the driver of the vehicle that crashed - someone could have cut him up, but I suspect it was probably the driver of that car.

As we always get reminded when we do trackdays "If you come off the bike - it's your fault - not the bike's". Which is true. EVERY single 'off' you see on these bike track days is down to people taking corners too fast and driving beyond the limits of their capability.

Men in general seem to think they are much better drivers/riders than they are. I'm so glad I've done a few trackdays with some tuition as you suddenly realise how amateurish you really are.

Too many idiots on the Nurburgring. Just glad no-one else was hurt.

Well done for getting in there and helping out Moff!
