Speedo Twitches

Hi guys, right wanted to ask and see if anyone knows or has had this problem.

My Speedo twitches i.e. the needle can be sitting at 30mph and all of a sudden goes to 80mpg then back to normal. I have noticed though that this only happens when my lights are on never happend during the day time. The only other thing I done when this started to happen was I fitted a HID conversion kit to my headlights surley this can't be the problem?

Anyone had this problem as well or does anyone know if it could be the HID's?

Davie

I've heard of speedos doing this before but I'm sure it was a loose connection at the back of the speedo or on the convertor wiring, shouldn't be anything to do with the lights, coincidence maybe?

Or maybe someone else will know better.

Mine does this when i hit 80, it shoots back to 60 then back to 80. This happens rarely though, i thought it was to do with the speedo chip as i had lots of problems with it when i bought the car.

It will be a loose connection, sounds like you might have an electrical converter and not a mechanical one (not a problem, just different types)

Take the clocks out and clean the connections, it will be obvious which ones are the converter...

Ok will do this and yeah itan electronic one I have, I can't understand why it only does it with the headlights on, so I was thinking on my way down from Edinburgh lastnight and I'm going to look at where the high power modules for the HID's have been fitted maybe there is interferace from them getting to the wiring for the speedo?? its a long shot but worth a try aye. Will let you all know how it goes.
