You will half your MPG, plus you will go into the higher tax bracket due to emissions, which is £450 p/a, if you drive inside congestion zone you will pay £12 per day instead of the usual £8, plus wont be able to drive after 10pm in built up areas due to the extra noise your car will produce.

You can always rely on good sound advice in this club.

Just incase that was a serious question, no it won't affect you fuel economy. It will be crap no matter what you do.

If your worried about MPG then don't bother with a high performance car like a Skyline.

If you wont good MPG then go for a diesel car

The cone filter will allow more air flow, but flow through the engine and out the exhaust is a closed system - its debateable whether the standard air filter is the most restricted part of the system.

Assuming the filter is the bottle-neck, the next-most restrictive component will then be the new bottle-neck in air flow. I would guess the next one is the catalyst.

The more you improve the air flow, the more the ECU will chuck in more fuel to match, especially without remapping the ECU.

Order of events....

1. Buy Skyline
2. Fit Induction kit, de-cat and cat back exhaust
3. Enjoy
4. Decide you want more but either continue to enjoy reasonable power and fuel consumption or spend loads of money getting more power and single figure fuel consumption

In all honesty,I have found that driven sensibly, you will get reasonable mpg in a fairly std/lightly tuned Skyline. I can get mid to low 20's

I agree with Gareth. If you want MPG its best to get rid of your liner. When I got mine 10months ago I tried driving for 'economy' (yeah ok-dont all laugh at once) just to see if it could be done. The best i could manage was 29....
....But then I got BORED BORED BORED! I came to my senses and remembered why I had bought it in the first place. MPG? It stands for More Piggin' Gas. Just enjoy it Tom!

If you are worried about mpg on a skyline , getting it mapped with what ever mods you carried out is the way to go, but don't expect massive mpg , just a more efficient use of the mods. Pod filter without some sort of heat shielding is not really worth it. Although it they usually sound sweet.
I have apexi air filter and hard pipe , air pod shield , 3" downpipe and high flow cat ( 100 cells ) along with hks super dragger system.
Works really well , it over fuels slightly , but no enough to really effect power. I intend to get a fmic and a standard ecu remap .... it seems to be the best way to go for affordable power and some sort of usable fuel economy. Hope this helps.

yea thanks mate big help

Bit silly i know but all my last cars i have just poped a few simplr mods on like an induction kit exhast systems and injectors and stuf like that and not worried about it messing up the running of the car,

But with an engine like a skyline's if i just put a filter on it it will not effict the general running of the car will it i know it wont i am just double confirming this

I`m using k-car Perodua Kancil(Daihatsu Mira) as daily car and skys on weekend.I realize skys is more economy on straight highway/long journey.

We also have NGV gas as option here....
