skyline insurance

hello, recently brought two skylines, both r33s but ones a 2.5 litre turbo and the other is a 2.0 non turbo. im having ALOT of trouble trying to get a 21 year old on an insurance policy for the non turbo. alot of insurers dont even have the option for the non litre 2.0, all they have are the 2.5 turbo. anyone able to give me a few names of some insurers, thanks!!

Skylines are considered to be a group 20 car no matter what engine they have. A-Plan may be worth a try but beyond that your **** out of luck.

I'd agree with Spearmint, you will also find that quite a few insurance companies will not insure under 25's on a skyline.

The biggest con I ever see on skyline adverts is that non turbos are cheaper to insure than turbos. I don't know a single insurer who puts them in any catagory but 20.
Adrian flux is usually a good bet, they are pricey but don't want you to have loads of extras like trackers and stuff. Give them a try.

it wont be cheap but adrian flux should be able to quote for a 21 year old on it.

a lot dont want to know if you are under 25

as the others said, adrian flux are pretty much your only hope, i know, i`ve tried, assuming he`s got 3 years (as much as is possible) no claims, and no convictions, i would be braced for a quote around 2-2.5k tpft. AFAIK A Plan are now over 30`s only, i know it used to be over 25`s, but didnt Gareths mate have problems getting covered by them.

I first insured mine at 20 and it was a nightmare but I did find something in the end. I've used Bell and A-plan. A-plan would not insure me with anything more than stage one mods on my GTR.

Your looking at a high premium to say the least though.

I spent two solid days on the phone to get a quote, no joke. It gets easier though.

keep at it.

My son is 23 and insured with A plan. He got a quote from Flux but A plan was cheaper.Sometimes insurance companies will tell you one thing today and another tomorrow. Just keep trying.

Most wouldnt quote me at all (23 and never owned a skyline before) but flux quoted me £1500
i thought that was good until i got a quote of £900 fully comp from Greenlight Insurance.
Give them a try- Welcome to Greenlight Insurance, Modified Car Insurance Specialist

top tip here this worked for me

bare in mind i live in a cat A1 area so am in the best place possible to live i have a garage tracker alarm house alarm directly linked to ploddies my porcshe 911 cost me £147 a year to insure . i got quotes from aplan and flux etc for my gtst they were at the time some of the only and prolly still are that list them and they happily quoted me over £1000-£1500(mods listed) per year rang around a few places and still no joy . i ended up calling directline who quoted me £647 who inccidently quoted me on a gtr not a gtst(not on their quote system but are on their databases) when the paper work come through i phoned up and got it changed for a mere 30 notes since then my insurance keeps fallin lower i'm now paying £521 with all mods listed i've passed this on to a fair few people who have done the same thing and works everytime only down side you cant drive untill you sort to cover note out because its invaid until its changed ei you'll be insured on a 2.6 twin turbo not a 2.0,2.5 or 2.5t

its a harsh fact that gtr's are cheaper to insure than gtst's and believe it or not non turbo's are even worse i've found

I was with direct line, they would only insure me if I had a cat 1 imob, alarm and a tracker, Which cost me about £800 on top of the £985 for the insurance.
And it's a non turbo but they wouldn't have it, said it was registered as a turbo so it was insured as a turbo.
Wish I could have crashed it and claimed back a det engine on it.
