What to change under the Bonnet

At the mo under the R32 Carbon fibre bonnet its still really standard, theres a Toad alarm sat in there but need more ideas to brighten it all up and make it look something a bit special, with a good induction kit.any ideas?

Keeping it clean makes a big difference

I prefer to keep any frills functional, so the only bling I have is:
  • induction kit (as you suggest)
  • earth kit from Grounding kits
  • strut brace
  • hoses - replaced as required (although I left it a bit late with the heater hoses at the back
  • tie up odd wires & hoses if they are loose

I can't be bothered with polished metal.

What are the benefits of an earthing kit?

basically, if your OEM earth straps have deteriorated with age then it's a good idea to replace them. Most people fit them as it adds more colour to the engine bay I guess

big massive polished turbo or the cheaper option, a coloured rocker cover, split fire coil packs with the middle of the rocker taken off so you can see them, a polished plenum or an after market one

An earthing kit can provide better running for the engine, good earthing is important due to the type of ignition system used.

There is loads of bling available such as fuse box covers, silicone hoses, alloy rad etc

there is loads you can do to an engines looks, this is some times over looked but here is an example of a standard one, and a sexyer one

a clean standard engine

A shiney one

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...icture0262.jpg

shows a few shiney bits and a few coloured hoses can change the look of your engine for not that much money

Forgot to mention the oil catch tank - doesn't RK Tuning do a combined catch tank & washer reservoir?

Personally I think polished metal is a bit 70s, but of course a lot of people are into that.

alot of people jump from HKS mushroom type filter to the Apexi hypercone induction kit, my personal choice is the apexi

One thing to be careful with regarding mushroom style filters is that, it has been known for the filters (foam) to wear with age and bits come off.. and you dont want anything being sucked in thats for sure..

Still aslong as you maintain your skyline well I wouldn't see why you'd have any trouble with the induction kit you decide to choose

As Rich has said, alot of skyline owners tend to go for the Apexi cone filter. There was a website a few years back where tests were carried out using different induction kits and Apexi came out top

even though most filters are designed with metal rods in specific places to reduce wear on the foam, and and stop it from breaking it still happens, yet the HKS filter is very reliable and used on some top performance cars.

The HKS filter
