Oil cooler fitting

I've finally got the time to make a start on my car again so i'll be soon updateing my project thread as work progresses.
What i need to know is I've just bought a Mocal oil cooler for my 34 and was wondering if it was an addition to , or a replacment to the standard one. Do i remove the standard one and connect the water pipes and replace with the Mocal one , or do i just take off the filter and put in the sandwich plate and leave the standard one there.

Any ideas / thoughts

Leave the standard one on there, put the sandwich plate on top, followed by the oil filter. It is very tight down there and make sure that you don't overtighten the sandwich plate fitting, as a few people have sheared off the standard housing
