WAY too high. 44psi would give you no grip, and probably blow out a tyre.

You will need 30psi maximum. Race instructors don't know ****, trust me I know enough of them.

If that is cold, then they probably hit nearly 44psi race hot. And seeing as they say that the Nitrogen ones don't have the pressure build up, then maybe that isn't so high?

After genuine thorough research into tyre pressures for fast road and track use, most people would be a little suprised at what is best... but like most car related stuff, it all comes down to personal choice and experience. Every tyre type and size will need different pressures on different tracks and conditions, as well as what works for that car and driver. There is NO ideal all round pressure that suits all.

I find high 30's is spot on for what I do.

Although with my tractor I run at 6psi

I know more about race tyres than I do road tyres, but I would be suprised that a road tyre could get from 30psi cold to 44psi hot. 36-37 I would have thought would be more likely the highest.

Nitrogen only filled tyres will still gain pressure as they heat up. But they are more predictable in pressure because there is no water vapour inside them. Temperature to pressure is more consistant.

Measure your tyre pressures after a "hot run" and check what they are. Then get them blown up 4psi more than than you normally would and recheck.

Personally I wouldn't bother doing it at all. I've raced a single seater with normal air in the tyre and with nitrogen filled. Made sod all difference to me. It's more of a benefit when travelling around the world where you are at different altitudes and ambient climates. It makes your calculations valid for different tracks. It's a bit of a gimmick for road cars akin to using octane booster. Air is 70% nitrogen anyway. Unless you completely vacuum out the tyre before filling with nitrogen, or fill it and empty a few times there is still going to be some "air" in there. Doing it just once you might find you've gone from 70% nitrogen to 80% nitrogen, the second time, 80 to 85%...
