Question Clutch, gear box question.

Hi all.
The quick question is how do you know if its your clucth or gearbox that needs changing.
I'm asking this because its recently had a full service and the enginge is very good.
But the gears are harder to select when driving, it feels like its clunking into gear, I have to sort of force it into different gears.
I also tested the biting point which is weaker than normal, it used to roll up slopes no probs, but now its shuddering up the same slope feeling ready to stall any moment.
How else can you test to see if its clutch or gear box thats had it.
Done a search but found no answers to this.
Any info would be much appreciated as I want to get the correct thing changed to save money.
K thanks for any the help/advice givin!!!

Nam.

Well a lack of oil certainly wouldn't do it any good and you would soon hear the bearings howling

I still think clutch though.

I think that you would be better off starting some threads in the various trader sections Nam.

If I was you though with that power, I would buy an ADL (Blueprint) clutch for an R33GTR. Bolts straight on and is probably the cheapest upgrade for up to 400bhp ish.

If your after increasing power in the future, we can offer you a Bitz Twin plate. Or a Exedy Greddy Hybrid Multi Twin plate. Or HKS.

I struggle getting mine into forth at speed, but my biting point is fine! Come to think of it some of the other gears are a little doggy! The clutch isn't that old. I was hoping to read this and my question get answered but my problem is a little different.

Any ideas??

syncro's only on R,1 & 2 if that was gone you'd be crunching everytime you pulled away

take quick look at the pivot bearing before thinking your gearbox is knackered

Those gears are fairly alright. but it always feels it is going to crunch if you know what i mean!

Garage has never said anything but it is going in for piggyback ECU so will ask them to take a look!

I had the same problem in my GTR.
Worn syncro I'd say. I'd try redline heavy shock proof gear oil if it cruches.

If it is worn will it cost a fourtune to repair?

I'm not sure on a GTST box. Can't remember how much, but the quote wasn't cheap to do mine.

It would be worth trying the cheap options first.
