Low boost help for newbie

Hi everyone. I have finally got a 32 GTR and have one question. The stock boost gauge (mmHg) never goes further than halfway up the positive range (350mmHg) when the pedal is to the floor. Stupid question one is " is that normal" followed by question two " if not what could be causing it?".
Sorry if these are really basic questions but I am new..I will get better.
