    To swop or not.

Simple question for me as I am not really mechanical minded.
It is becoming clear that I can't sell my N/A R33 in todays economic worries, so what should I do with it?
Go down the road of dropping a turboed engine in? So far a figure of around £2k seems to be what I need.
Or try part exchange it? Though I may not get very much for it and end up spending an extra £4k plus.
So you can see my problem, is it worth spending and getting a new engine? or just getting rid and start again.
I am asking you lot as you all know way more than me about such things......I hope!
    Thanks for your time,
    John.

I know your situation, I had no interest at all in mine for months. Where have you got it advertised? Had mine up on pistonheads, finally someone bought it, but before that I was being offered swaps, escort and sierra cosworths and evos mainly, but if you can get something sensible back, go for it.

Just be careful you don`t end up with a lemon in return

I think that you would not only have to consider the engine but you would need to look at the other parts needed for the conversion such as gearbox, LSD, brakes, intercooler etc so I see there only being two choices
    1. Sell and start again
    2. Buy an accident damaged GTST and swap all the parts over

Too much hassle(and money) involved in trying to make it into a turbo, and you'll still have trouble selling it!If you can get a swap for something decent, then that's what i would do.

A really left field idea , what about supercharging it? Rotrex do a variety of superchargers. Could get them to sponsor it and use it as a show case for what they can do. As far as i know they are not many if any supercharger R33 skylines. I think it would be a grin inducing car to drive.

I have thought about it I have to say. I will message rotrex about it.
If it is too expensive I will see about the crash damaged route. (didn't think of that).
I have had it for sale on Ebay twice (£820 was max offer!), local paper for ages, auto trader for a while. I was just throwing money at advertising so decided to let it lie for a while.
Thanks for all your suggestions so far, my only main hinderence is money, I get paid when jobs are finished so when and how. next payday is mid november................

I suppose it depends on how much of the work you will do if you swap the bits over. I did the same in my old 1.4 astra. It may well be cheaper to bite the bullet and start again. I bloody wish I did, although I did a lot of the work myself, I ended up spending more on that than I did on my Skyline.

A supercharger on the other hand would be different.

Looked into supercharging.............pass. Could buy an R32 GTR for the kind of money that needs to be pumped into it!
Okay who wants to give me an engine with all the ancillaries.
