Car pulling to one side.

Hi all!

Question is....

When in motion (accelerating, rolling, breaking turning etc) on a flat surface everything is normal.
Even motorway driving is normal (no steering wheel shaking, shuddering ect), so I don't think its wheel balancing problems.

But when I do the above on a straight road with camber, dents in road surface or uneven roads, the car pulls or trys to veer to either side (depending on the road) quite hard.
I would have to grip the wheel firmly to keep the car straight, other wise it would veer of track.
What can be the cause of this problem?
This would happen at any speed, slow or fast.
All tyre pressure are the same.

As most of you know my car has just came back from being repaired (lower wishbone & tie rod), fully serviced and MOT'd, which I had front bushes replaced because the old ones were leaking oil.

The car didn't have them handling characteristics before.
The mechanic aligned and tracked the wheels with the repair.

Also if I reverse or let the car roll back then press the break, I hear and feel quite a loud clunk noise coming from the bottom front of the car (anything to do with the bush replacement?)
Had all the break pads changed to as part of the full service, maybe something to do with that?

Any info or diagnosis would be great.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Ps sorry this is long.

Kind regards Nam.

First contact the repairing garage and see if they can put it right, if not then:

Contact your insurance company and tell them that it now handles badly and ask them to pay for a 4-wheel alignement

The clunk when reversing and braking is probably the brake pads moving in the calipers..........or something loose

Could well be a CV joint if there is a knocking sound. This is usually at low speeds that you can hear it. What`s the wear on your tyres look like? is it even all the way accross?

Hi guys.

Will contact the garage i got it done at. He is a reputable, and a nice guy. He worked on the Drift R33 that Shane (Boyzone) crashed at Silver Stone recently.
Sure he carried out the work he said he'd done on it.
He did use second hand bushes but he said they were still good condition.

Break pads look secure enough visualy. But deffo feels like something loose.

All tyres look evenly worn.

And there isn't a constant knocking sound, just a loudish clunck when the car is moving backwards (at any speed) and you apply the breaks. Doesnt make the noise from forward motion.

Don't wanna go through insurance as just recieved a renewal price and it is well good, £776 for the year with 5,000m limit.

Maybe if someone is near me I can let you drive my car for a second opinion on this matter. I got 1 half weeks of holidays left.

K thanks again guys. gonna call him soon.

Have you seen what Moff does to gear boxes. I imagine you`ll turn up to his house and he`ll be stud there with a face mask on and an angle grinder.

All the Chassis/Supension set up is completly standard.
Hope not just spent a load of money getting her repaired and set up properly.
Need to check the LSD though, never done that before. But it wasn't mentioned from the garage.
