Firstly I'd try stripping out the lining under the boot lid and see if there are any connections loose.

Took my old spoiler of to fit a new one and there is a plug which connects to the loom that goes in a hole in the boot lid-worth checking if thats come loose(Though it means removing the spoiler which can be stuck down well). Also where the wire goes from the boot to the loom(Seen in a rubber sheath when the boot is open-drivers side)can break on older models. If its the actual light itself then I have a spare in my old spoiler you could have to try.
