I know it was a little naughty getting the two rear under tray screws out but other than this I didn't spend anytime under it. I got to the air con bolts from the front. I am planning on moving the axle stands and sticking the wheels under the sills when I work out which bits need removing, it does look a little precarious.

The brakes were used about two hours before that pic was taken. They are shocking anyway. I've tried different pads, new fluid and re-bleeding obviously. When I drove the Golf for the first time it was a little like left foot braking. This is on the list but most bits will be coming from other forums for sale ads to keep the costs down. I think I've even got a group buy lined up for the bushes.

So much for being a straight swap. It looks like I am going to have to chop the bumper bar to suit the 99 spec bumper. Its off for now but it will go back on when Ive got more time to modify it or source a 99 spec bar, its a bit flimsy without it. I only had an hour of light today. Its a pain because none of the other trim bits fit either. The towing eye will need to be modified to clear the bumper and two broken bolts will need drilling out which sheered of when removing the bumper bar.

It will all be worth it - looks much more agressive and better cooling

    Definitely.

I'm also thinking of these wheels. They have two reasonably new Toyo Proxes on the front but the rears are on the limit. I'd change the rears for Toyo 888s.The fronts are 17x8J with 235/40/17 tyres and the rears 9J with 255/40/17 tyres. All with an ET35 offset.
