Wheel Wobble

After fitting my new wheels , i had to have a 10mm spacer on the fronts , which ment longer studs and loosing the centering ring in the middle of the hub for the wheel, after some messing about with the normal spacers from halfords i suffered from wheel wobble at 75mph+ due to the wheels not being centered correctly on the hub.

So bit the bullet and have just fitted a set of 10mm hubcentric spacers which have cured the problem and now im wobble free

I got them from H&R in germany come with new longer studs aswell , but i already had longer studs fitted so will keep them for spare,s.

I bought mine through SRB POWER in essex, but the price is the same as H&R own website price, mine were £95 so i guess thicker ones will be a bit more.

SRB powers number is 01375 392777

They are machined alloy , good quality and cured my prob so im happy with the end result, althou not cheap.

I was about to reply saying you needed to get some hubcentric ones.. :P

Glad it's sorted, and it's good advice for other people. Cheap spacers arn't worth it!

Although I'm aiming to get a set of wheels that wont need spacers (ET35 for an R33 GTS-T as the ones currently fitted are the standard ones.. and I had those on my old 200SX for 4 years so I'm a bit bored with looking out the window at them) I have to admit that I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this..

So, 'scuse the ignorance, but whats a hubcentric spacer?

Feel free to PM the answer if you dont want to trash this thread

Cheers

I agree, not needing spacers is the ultimate, but hubcentric is nearly as good.

Basically, a normal spacer is machined round, with flat faces, and the holes in for the bolts to go through. To locate the wheel in the centre of the hub, you are still relying on the shoulder machined onto the actual hub. With thick spacers, they are so thick that the wheel can no longer locate on the hub's shoulder as it is covered by the spacer. A hubcentric spacer has more machining detail, and basically locates precisely on the hub's shoulder, and has another machined shoulder for the wheel to locate on.

It's easier with pictures

Normal spacer:

if you see anything like this, run a mile

It hasn't even been machined flat!!!! ffs.
