z32/q45 mar conversion

what is involved in upgrading my gtst maf to one of these, is it a straight swap, or is there other things i need to take into account.

i am trying to diagnose an ongoing problem and it has been mentioned that my maf may be the problem, so i guess whilst im going to look at replacing it, i might as well upgrade to something a bit meatier that can flow more air and futureproof the car incase i decide to go further.

any help or advice greatfully recieved.

thanks

You cannot fit one with the standard ECU unless you have an air/fuel controller such as an Apexi SAFC

What is the issue you have?

I believe you have an Apexi Neo? this can run a Z32 or a Q45. If you look in the manual it will give you the corresponding numbers to put into the config menu.

Of the 2 I'd suggest going for the Z32.

it is cutting out when warm but only intermittently, pulling up to junctions, traffic lights and when stuck in traffic, the revs drop off and occasionally she stalls. was considering it could be the blow off valve but speaking with a fella today off one of the other forums he thinks it could be the maf breaking down as it is a problem that is getting progressivley worse. was just thinking of upgrading the maf whilst i was at it, but i think i'll try a normal one first and see if it cures the problem.

gambit, yes i do indeed have a neo, but im lead to believe it isnt set up by the guy i bought the car off, im not very good with electronics if the truth be known, so wouldnt know where to start with it.

i was told that the maf isnt a straight swap, that there were other wires required if upgrading, is that the case??

Yes, you would need the wiring plug to match the AFM and the wiring diagram to join it to the car's loom. The rubber tube it connects to can take the Z32 or Q45, the Z32 does fit a lot easier though.

You can use the Neo to monitor airflow voltage, you could try using that to monitor what it's doing when it stalls. I "think" the voltage at idle for a stock afm is about 1.1volt

If you have no other mods, like bigger turbo/injectors then you can turn off the map the neo uses so the car will run just on its own ecu. That would rule that out as a problem. You can't unplug it however as it would leave the afm wires disconnected and the car won't start.

youve lost me fella!!! lol, im gonna try and replace the maf with another first of all to see if that helps, then if not im gonna get it looked at properly, love the car to bits, but to be quite honest, it's an absolute b4st4rd to drive at the minute.

it was meant to be going to mgt today, but my other car is off the road so now need to use this till my other car is sorted, hoping to sort it out in the next week or so.

thanks for the help and advice though
