Which cat-back exhaust

I'm not looking for out and out power or volume for a new exhaust, but fairly soon I'd like to get one. The R33 GTS-T I recently purchased is completely standard and it sounds.. ok, but muted.

I've just seen my annual bonus statement so will be getting a reasonable bit of cash to spend soon, so I reckon a new exhaust and induction kit is in order. I was recommended to get an Apexi filter at the last Swindon meet, so unless anyone else has major problems with that idea, its just an exhaust I'd need to look for really..

I'd like something that enhances the sound, has a nice burble to it, but isnt going to give the neighbours something to worry about (the old bloke over the road has just had his 2nd heart attack for starters and I dont want to cause number 3)..

So, what would you recommend? Getting one fitted to try out probably isnt an option sadly.

Any ideas would be gratefully received, and then I'll think about where to get it all from.

Cheers
Kev

We do Blitz or Japspeed, both equally excellent quality.

You need to actually listen to other peoples exhausts, rather than let others tell you their opinion, because what one person hears as "something that enhances the sound" or "has a nice burble to it" could be wildy different to your opinion and may easily "give the neighbours something to worry about".

You're not wrong there. I've heard the note of Nigel S and Shell's, both of which are completely different.

Shell's was a Blitz, Nigels is unknown, but I'd tend towards Nigels really. I also had a drive in one with a 5zigen system on it and that was damn nice.

Its just arranging to get 10 or so different exhausts together to listen to that is tricky, tho the next Swindon/Wilts meet might be ok as there seem to be a few attending. A collective vote on those that are not too noisy might give me an indication of some to try and look out for though.

remember the exhaust tone will differ depending on the mods done to the engine, e.g. high lift cams

Yes a good exhaust if you can find one secondhand, although they are not stainless steel and will corrode through in time

I wish that I had never sold mine as is was quiet and ideal for trackdays.

Both me and Honey currently use an RSP cat back system and Honeys was measured for sound today at Brands Hatch 98db

The 5Zigien is a nice sounding exhaust, but I dont think you can still get one new, at least I havent yet.
