Quick and Durable 500PS+ on RB25DET Engine?

Looking at the January 2009 version of Option Magazine we found a section on quick and durable tuning at around the 500ps mark on a variety of engines. One of them was the RB25DET. According to Ishikawa-san at Testarossa, the NEO engine along with the RB26DETT conrods and crank topped off with the R35 OEM pistons is the best cost-effective choice. Has anyone on here done this as of yet or is anyone interested in doing it?

Correct, the conrods are the same and small modifications need to be done. With the larger pistons displacement is reported to increase to 2627cc. The R35 pistons are 1mm oversize for the NEO and are reported to cost only JPY4000 a piece.

From what I`ve been told standard internals will take up to 600BHP. So why bother unless your going for extreme power in the 1000BHP mark.

Depends what engine your talking about Terry regarding 600bhp..

I'm pretty sure you wouldnt want to run 600bhp on standard internals.. look how many people do rebuilds around the 500 mark

The article theme was Making Good Balance for a fast and durable 500PS. I guess you could not replace the internals unless it is necessary or you could do a slight upgrade on the internals in order to safely build up the target power.

Amazing how I hear so many conflicting views on this. Some say the RB25 DET will handle 600bhp no problem, some say they don`t. So who do you trust.

Spearmint will tell you other wise

Safe rule is replace the pistons at 450-500hp, replace the rods at 500-550hp

People have run more and some have run less and still had problems
    Now drives an Evo 6

    No more 11's
