    R33 GTR Tuning Guide

Right since im still new and i still have bone questions to ask here goes my next one.......lol

Can someone advise me on mild tuning of an R33 GTR?

Basically im thinking BPU's like; Exhaust (full system), Filters, EBC, and Cooling for now to free up a little bit of power,

First question, with these fitted how much power roughly am i looking at getting?

Second, on going one stage further, what options do i have, PFC, Turbo, Etc... and what sort of power will a stock engine take before it need the internals upgraded?

    Many thanks for any help
    Stevie

(ps i'll come over to your stand at a show next year with beer for your help lol)

The different stages of tuning vary so much, personally i would start with:

    Decent exhaust
    Down pipes
    De-cat pipe
    Apexi induction kit
    Apexi PFC with boost kit

Have this lot fitted then remapped with boost set to 1bar and your looking at about 380 - 400 BHPish, dependant on what mods your GTR has already. Would advise against going over 1bar of boost if your running stock turbos.

After that it gets really expensive.

    Turbos (GTSS or Garrett 2560's)
    turbo elbows
    Intercooler
    Oil cooler
    Mild Cams
    Injectors
    Brakes

The list is endless but there is no set amount of BHP a standard engine can take as they are getting old. If you have a strong engine then i wouldn't go much above 500 - 525 BHP at 1.2bar as your in the relms of engine failure. I've heard the max is around 600 BHP but then its just a case of WHEN its gonna go pop.

In the world of tuning its always best to plan what you want to do to the car well in advance, that saves on buying things like turbos, injectors etc twice.

Hope this is of some help

    Cool, Thanks Steve.

I have the PFC on my current car but i wasnt too keen on the boost control module so i fitted an AVCR instead witch controlled the boost better (felt more progressivly controlled)

Id like to get a FMIC as one of my first mods as they look quite cool aswell as funtional aswell

Since im a total newbie i have no idea as to what my power goal would be exactly but on terms of my old car id like a car to be able to do a 1/4 mile in low 13's high 12's
