    ECU test

    Hi,

I did the manual ECU test and i got 5 long flashes and 5 short flashes on the dash which indicates that everything is normal.

Then i did the real time o2 test and the engine light stayed on, which means its running lean. Is that correct ? does it mean the o2 sensor is faulty?

The exhaust smells like petrol and it makes a popping sound when i change gears,

Does **** know whats wrong ?

Lambdas never seem to get changed. When they go up the spout, ECU runs the car rich.
Should get changed ever 60k or so.

About £60 for replacement, can add up to 40 miles to a tank.

Abour 3 years ago mine suddenly wouldn't idle, was popping and really stunk of petrol. The ECU flashed up a faulty O2 sensor code. Yours might be on its way out although not showing a code.

I bought one from here: Lambda Sensors - Cats Direct (I think it was the universal 3 wire type)
Not had a problem with it. Well worth getting a wrench too as it was REALLY hard to undo.

    Buy a genuine one

Just Lambda, Skyline lambda sensors, Bosch and NTK zirconia and titania sensors by post

I had a cheapo one once. Lasted about 5 mins. No go if you fancy ever putting your foot down !! I had an AFR guage hence I knew it went pop !
