First time i actually welded something , never had experience welding before, but i had this vision on how it actually works so i though i'd have a go and it actually sticks! im well happy ! its one of the skills i want to work on so as painting, but at the moment, i have no space for a welder and a compressor, i dont even have a proper trolley jack! just using one of those cheap halfrauds 1.5ton ones

anyway here's another one turned up this morning, not sure how im going to mount this, i might ask someone from the fabricators next door to my work to fabricate me a bracket if i cant mount this properly

and an extra helmet for my sister/s to use

Managed to just about fit the bar today with just about enough daylight! (damn rain!) Did line it up and cut a bit of the bumper and part of the reinforcer to let it through

Also for anyone thinking of putting one, will atleast give you an idea where abouts to mount it! Took me almost an hour figuring out where to mount it without having to cut a large portion of the bumper and staying well clear of the FMIC!

Looks like its about time i bump this one up, its been a while since its been upadeted!! mostly ofcourse are just maintenace stuff, and some little upgrades based on what the car is being used next..

Been a while since ive done this, Since i knackered the standard Pads that came with the D2 brake kits ive change the pads to Front and rear Performance friction pads

Just barely got away with it, i could just about feel its starting to get metal to metal on my way home, but i already have the PF pads waiting, so it was just a matter of me waiting til its totally gone LOL!

    01 Compound for the front

97 Compound for the rear pads

These brake pads are skimmed to its absolute limit(possibly cause of how expensive it was) and i have to give it a slitght tap and a wiggle on the discs to get them in to the calipers. which actually fit square on without binding. As i already told some of the other D2 users. the standard pads are already VERY good as it is. but just imagine, this one is just waaaaayyy Better! is an understatement. ok so its a bit dusty and squeals a bit when its getting up to temperature, but its something i can live on knowing its stopping power

I'v had some issues as well with the set of Front carbon alloy tension rods that i got from DW. after a few months, the Rose joint started to knock already (ie: already worn after a few months). so i gave them a ring and ask to how to deal with it, they have sent me a pair of new rosejoints (free) in which looked like have a different inner runner for the bearing(looked like copper type) until now it hasnt failed since. so well chuffed about it and a great customer service from DW

The old one is still attached and the new one with a copper looking inner race for the bearing

I transferred the existing rubber sleeve to protect it from gathering dust and add a bit of copper grease to somehow repel/protect from water/salt

Ok now its what i have been doing in the past few weeks, basically in preparation to the upcoming show season. as some already know, the car already looks pretty much tatty, with the amount of everyday use and with more than a few track and drag days its done its pretty much taken its toll on the condition of the whole look of the car.

so this is how it is before, Chipped and split front bumper

Scratched and a badly put on rear foglight on the rear bumper

And ofcourse my wheels. after ive refurb/polished them last summer, the salt attack during the winter time PLUS the carbon metallic dust from both the PF pads has taken its toll on the alloy

No matter hwo hard i brush it, it just wont come off anymore, so a refub again is the only solution

Oh yeah, had to put some plastic bags on the brakes to prevent it from rusting from the rain as i dont have a garage/shed at home and it was off the road for almost 2 weeks

took us 1 night to clean each one!! after getting home from work. big thanks for my sis BF for giving me a hand!! Had to do most of the painting in the toilet as its been pissing down with rain in the past few days/week

My colour of choice was a Dark Copper Metallic (yes almost like a chocolate but not quite )
    Cleaned and ready for painting

    Primed

Started painting (just when the sun came out)

The difference when it was lacquered

Front bumper done as well and picked up from the paint shop and left it my hot bedroom for a couple of days to dry out properly with the wheels

While waiting for the rest to dry up, i then started the rear bumper, while trying to take it off without having to take the rear spats off as they were attacked/taped to the wing and dont really want to damage it. Also removed the existing rear foglight which has been cut off the bumper and moved it over to the o/s reverse light where its suppose to be!! Bought the bumper for £20 which was the same colour from roadrunner and thankfully brought over by Jay

Just barely put it back on without breaking the spats! (whew!)

I also started noticing a bit of rust dust coming from the from suspension turrets. so while were not busy at work earlier i thought id take the strut brace off and have a look,. to find that the water seems to being kept at to where a rubber seals were glued on. so i peeled it off to invstigate more..

Doest look as much from my camera phone pics but there are defenitely a bit of rust coming off it

So i went and took the glued seal off it, to find that it was starting to rust, so i did it on both sides and cleaned the bit where the rust were and put on some sealant on the turrets. fortunately underneat the turrets doesnt have a sign of rusting, but it will be sealed before the winter time for sure

Ive also put a slightly ticker washer to the brace so its slightly above the turrets and not completely sitting on it.

Will it be ok as it is? will it work as its suppose to? as ive put a bit of a gap from the brace and the turrets. Just i thought id ask as i dont know what difference it would make

I have been trying to visualize what the wheels would look like against your car since you explained the colour to me. Still think they are in danger of being 'lost' tbh.
Hope I am to be proved wrong though Look forward to seeing them on the car
