    Talking My gtst's new bonnet

    hi one and all!

    This is my 33GTST.
when i first lifted the bonnet i was surprised at how heavy it was!
so i'm looking to replace it with a lighter one.
i've heard that the GTR bonnet is lighter than mine, if so could anyone give me any weights? preferably in kilos? of the standard vs. the GTR vs. a carbon fibre bonnet?
also because of my budget i'm probably going to go with the GTR bonnet as it's much cheaper and if i'm lucky someone will want to sell me a white one so i don't have to paint it lol also i would like my car to breathe better so could someone help me find someone who is skilled in the art of (... i don't know how to put this...) cutting aerodynamicly ergonomic holes in the bonnets of cars. i'll be thinking of designs and stuff for said hole but i'd like to know of someone who could do a good job for a reasonable price.

    all comments/replies thanked in advance

    *update*
I've decided to list what i'm planning so anyone who has the parts lying around can pm me to save me searching the ad pages (which i've done) so here goes
    after the bonnet,
    smoked indicators on their way!

front upper and lower strut braces (bought upper one but doesn't fit an i can get the ruddy nuts off the top of the strut tower grr!)

brakes lines and pads then discs

alloys haven't decided, probly whatever bargain i can find on here lol i had a look and there are alot of sweet rides/parts/wheels on here!

    intercooler (front mount conv.)

thinking about changing the spoiler.. (i think it's GTR spoiler with the carbon blade?) i thought it would look out of place without a carbon bonnet tho..

i do also want to upgrade the ignition system at some point aswel.

so i'm planning on doing them mostly in this order so anyone who could give me some tips or anything (as i'm a complete noob to all this!) will be welcomed, i'm mostly worried about the intercooler and what i'll have to change and how much it'll cost me! cost is the biggest factor! times is tight!

You have a Spec 2 GTST so the GTR bonnet will not fit. Your only option is an aftermarket bonnet specifically for the Spec 2 GTST.

It means you don't have a Spec 1 GTST.

obviously but whats the difference? surely it has to be quite major for a bonnet to fit the spec 1 and not the spec 2?

Oh ok I'll stop pissing about. The Spec 2 comes with a different shaped front end and headlights so if you did fit a GTR bonnet it would look gash.

You'll have to buy a fibreglass or carbon bonnet and get it painted, but would it be worth the money?

You'd be better off spending your cash on an induction kit, exhaust, decat and FMIC, that'd give you a better return than saving a few grams.

For a bonnet try F1 carbon on here.

Andy W on here can sort you out with braided brake lines (as well as discs and pads)

Why do you need to upgrade your ignition system? Your not running big power so no need, just get a decent set of plugs in there.

Do you have a boost controller?

The money for a new bonnet is (IMHO) better put towards a set of rims as you seem pretty keen on how it looks. The standard rims look, well, standard and small and when I put some nice 17s on my car looked soooo much better. As you have sills too it really needs a bit more in the arches.

Yeah, drop ignition off the bottom of your priority list unless you know its faulty.

Did you buy a GTR strut brace as I think they're different.

    Just my 2 cents mate

The head lights are the problem between the spec 1 and 2. A spec 1 bonnet will fit on a spec 2 car but there will be a gap between your headlights.

If your after wheels a set of 34GTT standard alloys would be a cheap upgrade, i`ll have a set for sale fairly shortly. I think there may already be a set lurking in the for sale section as well. Have a look through there and see if there are any other parts you want/need

i'm inclined to agree, a new set of boots would make the whole car look better instantly!
yes i think i did buy a GTR brace, however whenever i look for one for the GTST they all say GTST/GTR implying that one fits both, but we now know thats not true!

would they be lighter aswel? let me know when you do have them up for sale! i have browsed the parts for sale lists already but only to read throught the thread to find out they're sold. surely it would be best to delete threads or put a big SOLD in the title once the item is sold?
