    Advice/Help please!!

Currently removing my turbo from my gts-t it has a hks 2835 pro s turbo, removing it in order to replace the turbo gasket, also noticed that there was no turbo to exhaust gasket and it was blowing quite badly.

Need some advice, have everything off other than the turbo, well to be exact one bolt on the turbo, it is so hard to get at!!??? Got annoyed so just left it and decided to go back to it tomorrow with a fresh head. anybody experienced similar problems?

another thing is that I obviously need to remove the oil and coolant lines from the turbo in order to get the turbo off. when these are removed will all the oil/coolant drain out of the system?? if so i'll do a full service while i.m at it.

Also any other advice would be helpful!!Click here to enlarge

Another thing i may have spotted a crack in my exhaust manifold, not sure if it was or not but was finishing up when i spotted it and hadnt the patience to look at it closely!! lol!!
But if it is indeed cracked and a new manifold needed any suggestions as to who may supply them?? also i.m sure there a pig to get off without snapping studs, so advice to avoiding this would be brilliant.
i.m not a trained mechanic by any means, but my old man has always been handy with motors and we service/repair all our vechiles ranging from bmws, navaras, jcbs to lorries etc.
Also have the car on our lift so i can easliy get at it underneath, so which ever is the best way i can do it. lol sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for the help!!!!!!Click here to enlarge

Low mount turbos can be a bugger to get at but if you have it on a ramp and you have the right tools then you should be ok.

You won't lose much oil but you will lose just about all of the coolant out of the head so you will need to replenish this system and bleed it of any air. There are threads on here in how to do this.

As for manifolds then you either have the second hand route (Cheap - but no guarantee), the new part through Nissan (Expensive) or the aftermarket route which has its own pitfalls thanks to the tat you get on ebay.

I suggest any of the traders (new or breakers) on here for your manifold snag.
There is no such thing as cynicism, it is merely realism born out of experience.

oh the memory's the bolt your on about if its the bottom right the best way to get at it is from underneath you will be able get fairly easy.

It doesn't have a gasket between the elbow and the turbo the gasket i had a problem with with was the turbo to manifold as it paper thin so i replaced it with a standard gasket.

The manifold is something like £400 from abbey or if you ask andy at sp autos he might have a straight one somewhere but beware when/if you remove the manifold it's a pain in the arse to get off and you might snap a few studs in the process .

As spearmint said you won't loose a lot of oil but you will lose a load of coolant the bitch is when you put it all back together because the lines either go in straight away or take ages and lots of cursing at .

    Update on the situation.

Had to fashion a unique spanner by cutting it then rewelding it so it was at a right angle to the original position, without this would have never go the bolt of the turbo. So turbo off, gasket had a crack in it nothing major, but enough to let air through.
Inspected manifold, suspected crack found to be quite substantial, sprayed all exhaust studs with WD-40, left for an hour, then carefully removed them. none of them snapped!!! Result!!!

So now need a new manifold, suggestions as to what type is best??

all they do is crack, IMHO the only reason to change the manifold is when the turbo is too big to fit on it

Quick update, waiting on parts so as soon as they come will start putting it back together.
Is there a gasket required between the turbo and the exhaust???

    Update
Parts arrived this afternoon, (thanks Andy W as you said in great condition.)
Exhaust manifold replaced, went on fine, new turbo gasket fitted turbo on, exhaust etc etc.
Also when the car was on the lift had a look around it noticed, the back box had quite a bad hole running around the outer edge, also noticed crack in the turbo elbow at the weld, had these patched/welded up at local engineering firm only £20 and a very tidy job!!
Everything else is sorted the only thing needed now is to replace the coolant and rid the system of air, and check oil levels. Will do this tomorrow as didnt have time to get coolant this evening.
So i.ll get that done tomoorow and let u know if it blows up or not lol!!!
