    Cat C Write off

I guess. As you know my bike is a Cat B and im getting my money back. I have found an absolutly perfect bike I love but after doing an HPI it turns out to be a Cat C. Back in 2004, so its been on the road since.

Ive agreed £1,000 for it when its worth at least £1,400 but this was before I knew it was a Cat C.

What do I do, I know what my heart says and I know what my mind says.

I want some reasurance that im doing the right thing.

With the choice of bikes at silly prices at the moment I would shop arround. You can afford to be choosy.

If its been repaired correctly it will be as good as a "uncrashed one" - make sure every invoice is included for the repair work.

The bike has been involved in an accident and deemed un-economical to repair by the insurance company. Someone has bought back the bike off the insurance company and repaired it, Could you not find out from HPI what the damage was , it may have just been cosmetic , as Bike body panels are stupid prices.

Also maybe an idea to check with your Insurer as some dont like Cat C's.

Could be a bargain , could be a nightmare , so until you know what the damage was i would be wary

Whether it causes you any problems or not while you have it you will then have to find someone else who isnt bothered about the cat c when you sell it

I would offer him five hundred notes then throw it away when you are done with it then it only has to work correctly while you have it

Thats my thoughts pope. Any resale value will be affected because of the bikes history.

Well after doing this poll, I spoke to my insurance who have no problems with it. Vosa also had the same opinion.

I love the bike, but my head says no. The seller doesnt know about the damage so has no idea what the write off was for.

And Tony, I can't ask the missus, she hates bikes anyway, she want a skyline or mine back (And a skyline of hers)

The original insurer that wrote it off would know the damage

Told him I would give him £750 for it, but not expecting to hear back from him.
