    Question Blue ID plate+boost questions

    Hi guys,

    I've had a look through all of the many help files on the site, however couldn't find one for exactly what i need.
    I've just been looking at a skyline as a potential buyer and wanted to check on two things.

    firstly, I took a picture of the blue ID plate at the back of the engine bay.
    I need to find out if the detail on there matches to the car, is there anywhere that explains the codes on the blue plate? ...

    ECR33-018831 ----------I'm guessing this is the Production Car Number
    GGKBRTFR33VDAA
    KH3 K ----------Is this the colour code?
    RB24DET 2498 cc ----------Pretty abvious for this one
    FS5R30A RC41

    Secondly, the car in question has a boost controller, and the seller had printouts of the dyno with the boost at 7.5 and at 12.
    at 7.5 the car makes 264BHP, and at 12 the car makes 311.
    The car should be pretty much stock, does this sound about right?
    is 7.5 stock boost for a skyline?
    and will running a skyline at 12 kill it pretty quickly ? :P

    thanks guys :P

    Hi Calum

    The ECR33 is the model number for the car, and here's the rest to decode it:

    MOTOR CODES

    F = CA18
    H = RB20
    E = RB25
    B = RB26
    C = Super HICAS
    N = Atessa
    R = Chassis

    CHASSIS CODES

    R32's
    -FR -- GX-i
    -HR -- GTE
    -HCR -- GTS
    -HNR -- GTS-4
    -ECR -- GTS25
    -BNR -- GTR

    R33's
    -ER -- GTS25
    -HR -- GTS
    -ECR -- GTS25t
    -ENR -- GTS-4
    -BCNR -- GTR

    R34's
    -ER -- GT25
    -HR -- GT
    -ECR -- GT-t
    -ENR -- GT-FOUR
    -BNR -- GTR

    Just in case that's not been posted on here. The colour code you've identified correctly. Next line is the identification. and use the above info to decode some of it.

    On a stock car, the recommended max boost is 8.5, if the turbo and other engine parts have been uprated then I've heard of some cars running 12, but it's really not good unless there's been some serious part replacement, reboring and one Hell of a list of other bits and bobs being done. Stock boost I believe is 7.

    Those figures have to be in PSI.

    7.5PSI is 0.5bar and yes, it is stock boost for the car.

    12PSI is 0.82bar and should be fine. Many people run 0.8-0.85 with no problems at all.
