Question What battery for R34 GTT?

Can anyone tell me what battery I should use in my R34 GTT? The one I currently have is a A14 40Ah 330A (EN) but this seems far too puney and isn't holding the charge because if I leave it a little less than a week, it is completely dead and needs jumping to get it going again!

I have recently had the electrics checked out and was told there isn't excessive drain on any of the circuits so there is no fault there. I was advised to put a bigger battery in instead! So I measured up the available space and got the biggest battery I could fit in which is a C10 53Ah 470A (EN).

My only concern now is will anything go bang when I put this new bigger battery in? Can anyone advise if this is suitable?!

    Thanks!!

Nothing will go bang so long as you connect up the trerminals the right way round

Well I reckon I can manage that without any troubles! I need to chomp the old clamps off the loom and put bigger ones on to fit the new battery as well so hopefully will all go according to plan!

What I meant to ask was has anyone else had a similar problem and needed to put a higher rated battery in their skyline...or is it just mine?! What do other people have theirs? Any info will be appreciated!!

If the car isn't driven on a daily basis and is more of a weekend car then yes, you probably will need a higher capacity battery (the AH rating). I currently have one off of a renault megane scenic dti and it's hoooge

Yes I only tend to use it at the weekends really, if I were to use it every day then I would be committing financial suicide from buying petrol! Anyway, the battery I intend to use has a 53 Ah rating, not exactly massive but bigger than what I had and am limited to space available!

I can see a new problem now though, my +/- loom wires are not going to be long enough to reach the terminals and I still need to chomp the old clamps off and replace them with bigger ones so will then be even shorter! Any pointers on how I can get round this, am I able to extend the loom wires some how??
