Hello, I really think it's worth the extra effort of screwing the speakers onto a wood mounting. You can buy the 6 1/2 inch speaker rings ready made so it's just a case of tracing round the original mounting panels and mounting the rings to those, as the plastic mounts are prety crap. Dynamat the whole of the rear parcel shelf, the outer skins of the doors and seal the inner door skins completely with Dynamat. You need to get the tweeters up near ear level as HiFreq sound is very directional( Mine are in the door mirror covers) I found it best just to run mids/base at the rear. I'm biased but I think the JL XR range of speakers are about the best around at the moment with Kenwoods and Alpines coming up somewhere behind. Dont forget if you are going to amp its definately worth while upgrading your wiring.Probably teaching you to suck eggs! but I hope it helps. If you look on my gallery there are a couple of pictures you may find usefull.

dont go for pioneer speakers they sound great at the start but get gritty after around a yr if u are wanting good speakers halfrauds do polkmomo components for 150 a pair they sound great look great and will last a life time they do need amped thou.if u are just wanting 2 run direct from ur head unit i recmend the vibes they have a carbon kevlar cone and look a bit like the polkmomos but they will only set u back around 70 quid.or if ur after real value for money infinity reference are a good choice for around 80-90 they sound gr8 and come with crossovers and silk dome tweeters.i have these in my car at the min only in the front and i am happy with them. going 2 put the polkmomo ones in the back soon..hope this helps
