Lightbulb Proposed SOC Drag Racing Event @ SCR 2007 21st April 2007

Hi guys with reference to this thread by Drifty: Clicky

The wheels were already set in motion about an SOC event for 2007.
Lots of people were sadened by the loss of the Rotorstock event to Santa Pod and moreso the end of the summer. Therefore there was a good deal of people who would like to ick off the year with a nice early-ish event at a good location.

    So anway:

I've been in-contact with Shakespeare County Raceway with the view to getting a Skyline Owners Club event scheduled for next year, this mainly comes of the back off the demise of Rotorstock at the same venue and more-over the long held desire of our own event.

I'll cut straight to the point - We can't have own show. Not enough space and or people to fully hire out the venue and as such would not provide me with consise details regarding cost!

So after a bit of too-ing and fro-ing i have this to offer:

SCR are very willing to add us on to one of their "Test n Tune" events which are generally open to the Public and Pro Competitors in several classes - basic RWYB really. But they do offer "Jap Racer Days" which are tba date-wise.

They are more than able to accomodate us in their fields overnight, fuel us with a burger van or two + the bar facilities will also be open (woo hoo) also if we wish they can offer us a inter club competition on the day for the fastest car up the 1/4.

So it boils down to the fact that this would be a very easy, cheap event for us to tag on to as all the necessary infrastructure will already be in place (fire crews, marshals, prepped track etc).

    Costs will be:
Admission to the raceway would be £10 Saturday £12 Sunday per person
RWYB Track fee would be £20 per day or £35 for the weekend for unlimited
    runs.

    Terms of racing:
Scrutineering is mandatory and in some instances helmets will apply if the
vehicle runs over 100 mph or is capable of 11 seconds or less.

    Dates available:

Dates to be considered are all Public Track Day Test & Tunes:
    31st March/1st April
    21st/22nd April
19th/20th May - Provisional magazine shootout
    16th/17th June
29th/30th September - this may turn out to be a bigger event than the rest with more clubs interested
    13th/14th October
    27th/28th October

EDIT: just want to clarify that i intend us the Sub Commitee to iron out the basics on this before it goes up in the Public forums

This ^^^^ has been done now and the Sub-Committe are happy with it in basic form and have chosen th date of April 21st/22nd as this is early but not too early for kind weather etc.

So over to you.....Comments, question? Fire away.....

Cracking stuff Ian! You have my support.

Why dont people ever add my name. Means I have to do it myself. Would have thought Gordon or John would have learnt that by now.
