    FAO anyone with 20mm hubcentric spacers

    did u have to saw 5mm or so off the thread before you put the spacers on ?

    I tried them at dinner to see what a 25mm spacer would look like but the tyre stuck out too far however i found that the thread on the hub was about 25mm long and would sit flush with those spacers, with the 20mm spacers that i've ordered the thread is going to stick out an extra 5mm Is there another way than sawing the thread ?

    I've got 20mm extra long studs on the front with 20mm hubcentric spacers, havent had any problems.

    I'm not sure what you trying to say? are they the bolt on type or do you have extra long studs like me?

    not got extra long studs, the normal studs on the hub are 25mm so when i put the hubcentric spacer on which is 20mm and bolt it down the normal studs will poke through by 5mm, then you bolt the alloy onto the new wheel spacer studs, but it wont be flush as there are 5 x 5mm studs still sticking out.

    Ah right got ya, there should be a resess at the back of the alloys for the studs to sit in?

    i did mine a while back,ultralite 20mm hubcentric spacers,i had to hacksaw the original studs due to no resess in the back of wheels for the bolts to go,not too much of a job though if you have to cut the studs.

    There are 2 options, you either have to cut your studs down (something i do not recommend) or you have to "loose" that extra 5mm of stud into the wheel either by recessing the wheel flange or by loosing the threads up inside another set of holes (lots of wheels now a days have 2 lots of wheel stud PCD's so they can fit on various cars)

    For example, i have 20mm spacers on my car and i have 2 lots of 5 holes in my wheels, 1 set @ 114.3mm PCD (Japanese) and 1 set @ 100mm PCD (Euro).

    So i custom made spacers with both PCD's in them so my front wheel spacers attach to the hub with the 114.3mm studs and the studs sticking out of the spacers are 100mm PCD then the wheels bolt to them.



    If you don't have the luxury of making your own spacers and HAVE to use spacers which are all 114.3mm PCD then i suggest you drill out the back of your wheel to contain that 5mm of thread, i've seen this done many times on lots of cars and i don't think it adversely effects wheel strength.

    Best option IMO is 25mm spacers thou

    What wheels are they? all the alloys I've seen have are recessed at the back..

    KEI D1's - i'll google it hopefully i can find some rear pics

    ISJ, I liked the 25mm spacers but i don't think the police would, I think even the 20mm will have to come off for the mot

    isj you say you do not recommend cutting 5mm off studs, why not ? i have been told by a few wheel places as long as you can get so many full turns with the wheel nuts its not a problem,can't remember how many turns it was but cutting 5mm off the stud you get lots more turns than was recommended.

    For any sort of nut or bolt to withstand a sufficient amount of force and abuse it should be screwed in a depth that is at least 1x the diameter of the thread, i.e. M12 nut like on your wheels should screw on 12mm. You can ge away with less but realistically 1x diameter is a rule of thumb.

    The simple reason I don't recommend cutting down your studs is so that if you need to put original wheels on or indeed buy new wheels which do not require spacers then you will be 5mm of thread too short and you will have to buy all new studs and replace them

    Nissan must've made them that length for a reason If i have to i will cut them but i don't want to.
