    R32 headlight problems.

Okay so as I stated in my intro thread I will be annoying some of you experts with my light problem. I recently bought a R32 gtst. The only problem I am having with it is the lights. It came with a dodgy hid kit so ripped that out and fitted the h3c bulbs and the h3. All were brand new bulbs but seem to have no joy with it at all. The rear lights work fine and so do the parkers and indicators.

Checked all wiring around the lights and all the connectors, there is power going to them but still no light. So pulled the steering column off and had a look at the stalk to see what was going on. I don't think I have the standard stalk (look at pic) so I think that could be an issue. One of the connectors in the stalk has burnt as you can see from the pics. There was another small connector that was stripped so joined those wired back together and it seem to give me something.

Started with one passenger side light. Pic 1
Then once I connected the small 2 pin plug under the column and cleaned up the connection on the stalk I had headlights. The only way I would have a dim light I would have to turn the switch on the cluster off and on again. The dim lights will only come on when I have the stalk pushed forward in the headlight position and when I pull the stalk back to put it into the dim position the headlights come on.

So basically what I need is for someone to tell me what to do to put things right so I can enjoy the car. It has anyone ever had this issue that has fixed it themselves.

If anyone can make head or tail of this I will send you a slab of whatever beer you want lol. It's a pain after buying it and not being able to drive it because of the lights.

Have had similar with both my r32s but the set up is different. I have a rotary switch for side/ headlights on the right hand side of the dashboard binnacle and the stalk on the column is just for dip/full beam. Both times it was the rotary switch at fault and apparently they can break down internally with age. Changing the switch has fixed it both times. I have never seen a set up like yours, but it might be worth a private message to Gambit, who is the club technical expert. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks a million for the response John. Have you ever seen a stalk like that in a R32. I think it's from a different car myself.

I haven't seen one of those, but I've only had two GTRs and don't know if they change with model or year. Here's how both of mine have been.IMG_20170804_102253984.jpgIMG_20170804_102242128_HDR.jpg

I have the switch in the second pic. I'd say I need a new indicator stalk. Does anyone have an indicator stalk for sale.

Try Jap specialist breakers. If not, Newera parts can source them in Japan. Not cheap though.
