It's not network transfer though Tim, something is tying up the CPU.
You can bring up this site and switch wifi off and the CPU is still being fried, as soon as you close the tab for here normal service is resumed.
Good news!!!
I've found a solution - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...hbdbdgdf?hl=en
By default, it blocks 3-4 items from this site which have my CPU running back at 5%. You can see in the screenshot it's in the top right corner and while it's allowing the majority of this site to run it's blocking a few bits.
Gambit thank you very much for taking the time to find a solution. As it helps out short time perhaps we need to close down/block what ever it is that is using such a huge amount of cpu usage IE the clubs security needs to be updated or beefed up because not everyone of us will put the script fix on our computer.
It does work but is a real pain for other websites, I know how to disable it for other sites but other members may not have the know how or it will be just a baffling situation for them.
Any how it has worked for me & again thank you
I remember getting warnings about this forum that there is malicious content on here. I came back today to register and post a new thread and noticed that there is ridiculous consumption of CPU.
Know that there has been malicious content on here I looked into it and it wasn't long before I noticed that this forum is still serving malicious content. When loading the forum there will be a request sent for a script hosted on the following URL hxxps:// zymerget . bid /r87s2/w.js. It's quite obfuscated so I haven't looked into exactly what it does but my gut feeling is that it's mining cryptocurrency using the browser.
Bottom line: The owners of the forum needs to clean up the code that is responsible for this and also look into how it ended up there, likely due to unpatched forum software or plugins.
I'm happy to help if needed.
there is indeed nefarious code here, made an account just to point it out.
the script mentioned above is the one actually causing the CPU usage, but it's being injected into the page after it loads by this script:
allfontshere dot press/fonts/courier1 dot js
(replace " dot " with . and search the source)
blocking this script subsequently stops the more malicious one from being injected.
hope this helps
Thanks for joining & letting us know about this problem
Until the powers that own/run the club come back & sort out what is happening then it will stay & make the clubs situation even worse.
There are club members who really care about the club & obviously some that don't give a complete shitte
You know who you are !!!
no problem..
If it doesn't get cleaned up you can only assume the people who run the place want it to be there. Thats not a nice thought.
